Even for casual conversations it’s getting old. “How’s your X day doing” “what made you happy?”
I’m less and less feeling like I relate to most of the things posted not only here but in the fedverse…
I mean… That’s kinda what casual conversation looks like, no? It can get a little cheesy, sure. But ehh I kinda like someone asking me how my day was hehe
Yes, it’s called casual conversation for a reason, you just discuss casual things: your hobbies, your pets, what you’ve been watching, music etc.
I avoided the top casual conversation topic which is the weather.
Ideally, people would posts their own life stories, but in the meantime those daily posts keep the community active.
OP, if you want more “diverse” discussions, there is [email protected], [email protected] , [email protected]
Many of them are weekly questions to drive engagement. As long as they keep getting comments, they’re serving their purpose.
Personally, I like the Pets Sunday thread and read it every time.
Well, the only way questions show up if someone asks them.
checks post history
Looks like you’ve submitted three posts, one of which is asking whether people ask the same questions all the time. Can you yourself think up more than two? I mean, I’d reckon that you can, and that if you’re asking them, that they’d probably be relevant to you.
Whenever someone complains about post quality I always go to their history. Fediverse is what we make of it. Reddit is easy to lurk in, people will post stuff for you. Here you get what you put into it. Want better posts? Start posting about stuff you like, drum up some conversations. No time like the present
Well said
I post a lot actually
Yeah you just delete the posts so it’s harder for the mods to spot that you’re a ban evader on his 15th account.
Be the change you want to see…
I asked a lot more
What posts other than the three on your account did you make?
Various, I just erased them after a while, especially if they get toxic
Ok. So three.
Here is a full list of OP’s past accounts. He creates new ones after getting banned for being toxic. His new strategy is deleting posts from his account to hide his tracks. If you scrub through his comment history, you can see the remnants of this behaviour, since Lemmy preserves the titles of posts where someone commented and the fact that they were the OP.

Oh shit, now that’s hilarious. Thank you
I’m surprised they haven’t deleted this post yet. But while it’s still up, if you’d like to indulge me…
How did you figure out all of their alts? I looked through modlog and the alts were listed in the notes, but how do you figure that out from one account? (I did notice they kept going right back to the same comm. That’s pretty obvious).
For example, can you figure out my alt, and how? It’s interesting to me.
This user has a very recognizable style of speech, often brings up the same topics, and shares enough of their personal details that over time I’ve gotten a sense for it. Also, most of his accounts are created within a few minutes of the last one being banned.
As another observer, it’s quite easy to spot them.
As they mentioned in the OP, there aren’t that many people posting, and with their negative posts and comments, they stood out quite a lot while this community is usually chill and casual.
how high of a rank do you need to unlock competitive conversation?
Tier 2 unlock
I actually enjoy the weekly threads. Theoretically the answers will be different every week, even if it’s the same question.
Of course sometimes you get caught in a rut. But having new things to tell people about be a motivator to break a rut.
I think the mod is trying but isn’t putting in the right or good amount of effort for much needed variety
I’m the main poster here, I came up with this formula for one topic per day. If you have any ideas for additional topics, feel free to post them!
I think that’s above and beyond what’s expected of anyone. Kudos
Yeah we need more content, I agree. Maybe we should either bring in more people from somewhere (in case that is even possible), or we should connect to additional platforms to increase exchanges.
This community is regularly posted on [email protected] posts about discussion communities.
After a while I just concluded that people on Lemmy are not that interested in casual conversation
