That’s not an appropriate metaphor. Please consider not using sexual assault so casually.

You could say the executioner isn’t the one that feels the killing blow and it’s pretty much the same with the primary difference being there really aren’t many if any living victims of execution.

If the mere discussion of sexual assault makes you feel uncomfortable, then how do you think the cows feel about it when they’re forcibly inseminated?

Im just asking you to use a degree of discretion and empathy. I get that there’s a subset of vegans that are so trapped in their world view that they lack compassion and empathy of other people, but is that who you want to represent yourself as?

Cows cannot read so Im not about them in this context. Im more concerned with the person who has a flashback triggered by your inappropriate comment.

And there’s the problem: I’m asking you to show a shred of empathy by not contributing to the system that perpetually rapes cows, but you can’t even fathom it. Not talking about uncomfortable subjects doesn’t stop them from happening behind closed doors. You want to talk about lack of empathy and being trapped in a world view? Start by looking in a mirror.

You can’t help but be the worst, can you? You don’t even know what my diet is because I never mentioned it here but you have to be “that vegan”.

The cow can’t have PTSD from insemination triggered by your casual rape comments because as you might ge surprised to learn cows cannot read.

Many humans can read and Im asking you to think about them in places where it is only people.

You can have compassion for both. It’s ok to not want humans or non-humans to get raped.

And it’s not uncommon for breast cancer survivors to be told to avoid soy to reduce the risk of recurrence.

That’s unfortunate if true, since there’s no evidence isoflavones have any significant cross reactivity in humans.

However I’m a doctor and haven’t ever seen this advice, so I’m skeptical it’s “not uncommon”.

Admittedly anecdotal, but every woman I personally know as a breast cancer survivor has been told this. Some went to MD Anderson even. I do share research articles with them to show them otherwise. Some are receptive, some are not.

Indeed, but some people will ignore articles if it is counter to what their doctor told them. Some will if ore their doctor if they have an article to back their preferred answer. Some will discuss the article with their doctor, or find a doctor who agrees with the article.

Yep. Doctors aren’t infallible. That’s why you ideally want people to understand how science works, the hierarchy of evidence and able to deep dive into papers when need be.

Soy has the downside of causing men to have a imbalance of hormones, as soy proteins can mimic estrogen and cause men to undergo physiological changes.
