I know. So? Usually the businesses maintain their own opening hours (and if they are on top of things their business holidays) on Google Maps. The current state is that for looking up opening hours GMaps is leagues ahead of anything else and for actual navigation the competition (or in case of Waze the adopted sibling) is better than GMaps.

My pc is old unfortunately. I’d hate to upgrade it to support win11 jsut to disable all the ai crap.

MS replaced Cortana with Copilot, so it’s kida just an update to an existing feature.

It’s better to support open hardware that doesn’t rely on unsupported reverse engineering by community contributors.

I spent a good 20 minutes trying to remove copilot from my windows 10 machine last night.

On Windows 11 you can just uninstall it. I did. Win10 is old and about to be unsupported.

Linux, as in kernel: Yes. Qualcomm doesn’t develop FOSS GPU drivers, though. freedreno only supports older Adreno GPUs.

Those AI features are completely absent from Affinity. That said, Serif was recently bought by Canva who have AI features in their web suite, so I expect those to come to Affinity at some point, possibly requiring a subscription for cloud-enabled features (regular Affinity feature set will remain pay-once and offline, according to announcements). I hope some AI-supported upscaler will come to Affinity. I currently use some free web tool for nicer upscaling.

Also, Affinity apps don’t support file format plugins at all. AVIF and HEIF aren’t supported, so you’ll need external converters to open those.

Google Maps is good for finding businesses and their opening hours. That’s it. Personally I then copy the address and then use one of several apps, depending on my mode of transportation. For car either Waze or Magic Earth.

And English is imprecise for “you” as well. For he/she/it grammar at least doesn’t change. Substitute that pronoun for they and suddenly the grammar switches to plural. That totally confuses me.

You obviously understand English to a lesser degree than me. I nowhere wrote that I made demands to comply with me. Where on earth do you get that idea that offering a perspective is a demand?
