I’ve read quite a bit about the Gitmo experience. 20 years of mind games would turn many innocent people into just giving up. Some of these folk were snatched off the street by Pakistan security services on dodgy Intel. They then spend decades in cages being disbelieved. The only evidence against them is their own confession. The military’s job was to secure that ‘evidence’.

I don’t think that you are picking up on my point. It’s not what you want, as an American, on migrating to another western country, it’s who that country wants to accept. It is extremely difficult to get residency in western countries. Being an American doesn’t put you in front of the queue. It’s not that we don’t like Americans, it’s just that you are no-one special in immigration terms. Same as if I wanted to immigrate to your country. I’m nobody special just because I have an Australian passport. I’d have to stand in the back of a very long line.

Damn it, I was only reading about that this morning. Now I shall have to try and find it. Give me a few.

Well, the Trump team has been panicking in anticipation of this happening. They have already started launching law suits trying to stop it. The biggest scare they had was Biden’s age and that may have just vaporised?

That’s the dream, maybe. But other Western countries already have a professional class. We already have doctors etc. And, Australia already has niche immigration, but we can’t afford to just throw open the doors. No, you guys need to just learn to sink or swim. Or, just vote. 40 million Americans didn’t bother last time. You let the hicks and boobs just steal the country from under your feet.

No need for drastic action, just a will to change.

I don’t want to be overly offensive, but as someone who has watched the US slowly turn to chum over the decades, I’m not in favour of a mass immigration of Americans to other Western countries. How about you just stay at home and fix things. Most western countries don’t experience the same sort of weird and dangerous political problems that are now your way of life.

Just copy what others do. Dump guns as a social artifact, tone down the worst aspects of capitalism, perhaps compulsory voting, adopt a fairer taxation system, and strengthen social security. All other western countries do this to a smaller or greater extent and none of us are perfect or have any less problems in other areas.

I’m definitely not saying that other countries are better, we are not. It’s just that you definitely have particular problems and if you can’t change them, you better just build that wall.

The game was lost for me when I started getting fingerprinted at certain airports. This privilege used to be reserved for suspected criminals. Now we’re are all suspected criminals on a default setting.

The election is won or lost in the middle, not red or blue. It is the undecided and the ones considering voting who really matters.

We tend to be the engaged voters who know what we are going to do with certainty. But, you can judge the polls by looking in the mirror.

A bump stock modifies the frame of the gun which converts it into a fully automatic weapon. Don’t just get stuck on the trigger part of the action. The act covers everything, you just can’t cherry pick a single clause and ignore everything else. Otherwise they just might make you into one of Trump’s Supreme Court justices.

So much twaddle and dancing around definitions. You could definitely qualify for a spot on Trump’s Supreme Court.

All they are a modification to turn a semiautomatic gun into a full automatic weapon. That’s it. All the intricate dribble into the contrary doesn’t change that. Water is wet, sky blue, and modifications allowing automatic fire are machine guns.

What I find fascinating is the total number of numbskulls and cartoon villains, all collected under the Trump banner, and that lunatic mob may very well take government.
