If you run it correctly, with the hot water at the tao, the first cycle is only a few minutes long and the box is insulated, so there is very little heat loss. It drains all that water out after a few minutes so that all that grease and debris isn’t being sprayed all over your dishes that it is trying to wash. There is no reason to add more heat to that cycle, and the heat added would be minimal since the cycle doesn’t last long. The next cycle, the detergent cycle is much longer, so the water will lose heat over the duration of the cycle if not heated. That is what the heating coil is used for, to maintain the heat of the, ideally, already hot water.

Why not use the heating element one the first cycle? Energy efficiency, runtime, and equipment cost/complexity. It is a waste of energy to heat cold water when you should already have a tank full of heated water somewhere in your house with a line connected to the dishwasher. But not only that, heating water takes a considerable amount of time. To heat a gallon of water by 80 degrees Fahrenheit (average cold tap is 60 degrees, vs 140 in water heater) with a typical heating element in a dishwasher, it would take just under 15 minutes of continuous heating to get it to temp, and you would need to do that before you started cleaning if you want it to matter. And every cycle after that will need to heat the water from cold too. With 4 cycles to a normal wash (if I’m not mistaken), that’s an extra hour to every load of dishes. Then on top of that, you need a thermostat that’s currently unnecessary, to let the dishwasher know when it’s reached temp. The temperature sensor that is currently in your dishwasher is dedicated overheat sensor to make sure the system doesn’t get too hot and become a safety hazard. It’s a simple kill switch, too simple to serve both purposes. So you would need both sensors, not just the one, or a more complicated and expensive sensor.

It’s not like they couldn’t just use the heating element on the initial rinse. They could. But there’s no good reason to add extra time, sensors and power usage on an appliance when you already have an appliance that’s already done all of that for you. You just have to clear the line of the unheated water. It will save to time and money.

Also if you’re having to wash multiple times, there’s a good chance your mistake it’s not running the water until hot at the tap before running the dishwasher. First cycle is a just hot water rinse which actually does a pretty decent percentage of the debris removal. But that step works best with hot water when there is any grease or caked on food. The first cycle just uses a bit of water from the hot water line connected to it, no heater. So if your hot water line is still cold at the tap, it’s cold in the dishwasher too.

I moved out to go to college at 18 and back in with my mom as 21 after dropping out due to financial issues. I had trouble finding work there, nothing stable that paid well. I was a pretty lonely depressed guy, a virgin into my 20s, with nothing significant in my life and nothing to offer anyone else. It was a pretty shit time for me. I ended up moving in briefly with my dad 2 states away and was able to find a decent paying factory job shortly thereafter and got my own apartment. Then I found an even better paying factory job a year or two later, and got promoted to management within the year. I lost a bunch of weight, was able to save money, lost my virginity finally and I bought a house. I met the woman who would become my wife. Sold my house moved in with her. Went back to school, got my degree, got a much higher paying job, bought a much nicer house and we just had our first kid.

I don’t want to tell you how to live and I am not under the impression that everyone can just do what I did. Everyone is different. Circumstances are different. I know. But nothing in my life started to improve from my lowest point in my adulthood until I stopped the complacency, moves out and worked to improve myself and my life. I would be shocked if your 50+ year old uncles who live with you grandmother and have never had a girlfriend are truly happy with their situation. So… I’m not a lawyer, but I don’t think this is quite right. Intent does matter in a criminal act, yes. This is called mens rea. It is the intent and knowledge to commit a criminal act, rather than just the action itself. For example, causing the death of another intentionally (without reasonable cause like self defense) is murder. Killing them unintentionally is only a crime if you were criminally negligent (which also includes knowledge and intent) and said negligence caused the death.

However, motivation is not the same as intent and a potentially unethical or political motivation to perform an otherwise legal action does not make the act illegal. Especially in the execution of the law. If your political rival commits a crime, even though you may care more about their political challenge then actual justice in that case, you still can and should execute the law exactly as you would for anyone else. The alternative would be to allow personal bias against the criminal to make them immune to the law, which can clearly not be the solution. So long as due process is followed, the law is impartial, and the trial is fair, it doesn’t matter what the motivation of the prosecution was. They are still subject to the law like anyone else.

I just had this same argument with my Father-In-Law a couple weeks ago about the Trump convictions. He said it was all politically motivated, so it was wrong. I said, maybe it was politically motivated, I don’t know. I can’t read the minds of dozens of people that I’ve never met before. But it doesn’t matter if it was or not, because Trump still committed the crimes, as was demonstrated before a jury, and he was given a fair trial like any other person was and found guilty by a jury his lawyers helped to select. What anyone’s hopes or reasons were are their own and completely inconsequential.

A flat tax is a poor tax. 5% of your income means WAAAAY more to someone working minimum wage with two kids than someone who has a second home, even if dollars and cents it’s way less. And the wealthy will evade a flat tax as much as they already do a progressive tax.

It should also be noted that if the vast majority of people do nothing special on their taxes and just accept the government’s assessment, then that leaves a much smaller group of people to be audited. And a much larger portion of those people will be those who are trying to weasel their way out of paying their share. Right now, with the IRS being criminally underfunded, they only focus on low hanging fruit, the small fries. With those people being boiler plater auto-accepting tax payers, that would mean the IRS has no reason to audit them and can focus on the big boys where the real cheats are. That’s another big reason we do not have that sort of system and why the IRS is currently so underfunded (despite every dollar spent on the IRS generating between 5 and 9 dollars in revenue from tax fraud/evasion). Those kinds of people pay to make sure it doesn’t happen.

They should (and do?) have the same information your employer, bank, or brokerage files. i.e. the same forms you use to fill out your taxes now. They know what you contributed to you 401k and your other retirement accounts.

Right. Filing taxes should only be necessary if you have itemized writeoffs or wish to contest the IRS’s statement of your tax liability. They already know what you earned their your employer, what’s been paid in taxes, what basic credits your qualify for, etc. They know what you owe so long as you didn’t have expenses to apply for that they couldn’t assume or know about. The only reason they don’t already do that or, at least until now, have a free public system for filing, it’s because tax companies have lobbied for decades to be able to milk the public for cash to help them file and navigate their tax liability.

None of that is true. Nixon was never charged, let alone convicted of any crimes. And pardons can be completely general and not even specify an explicit crime at all. President Ford’s pardon of Nixon, for example, was for “all offenses against the United States which he, Richard Nixon, has committed or may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 20, 1969 through August 9, 1974” So, no. Neither charges or convictions are required, nor even a crime at all.

That’s the only reason, I think, that he was able to “repeatedly” do it instead of being arrested after the first time.
