Your budget will play a role. I 100% agree with people saying don’t get computer speakers if you’re looking for quality, but the catch is they need to be powered.
I did a bunch of research and got the below on sale after a few reccos and agonizing over specs. For reference, previously I have used spreadsheets to tune a room to a flat frequency response with my own custom crossover designs, so… I’m picky.
I’ve been happy with my choice. And since they are fairly portable, they are versatile. Also used them with a Midi keyboard and a portable projector.

By your reasoning I could use some 24 gauge wire that came with a pair of Walmart computer speakers with a receiver paired with 3-ways each with 10" woofers. Or even better yet, between a plate amp and sub as a fire starter.
I don’t disagree with your overall premise, but it’s too reductive, even for home theater. Throw in a “16ga in most non-sub applications” and only then does it become true.
I was once complimented in a group with “He has the most stars on GitHub of anyone I’ve met, he might as well be famous.” Dork pride for sure.
Gauge matters in some setups, especially over longer lengths, this is overly generalizing.
This is why Dog Fooding is important.
You know, it used to be different architecture, but it looks like it may he the same now.
Yea, Philly has a few like this.
Oh yea I forgot about them announcing that. I will look into it.
Thanks for the tip.
Not really. Safest place to get an app is from the Dev if you’re not using the play store. FDroid has been known to host out of date packages forever, causing security concerns.
Obtainium is pretty easy to use.
Is there a non-nightly version? I only use nightly on my tablet for the new “desktop tabs” feature. And how would I use this in Obtainium?
Yea, 125.3 on GH, 126 on Play Store.
Comment OP must never learn anything new. Good find.
If you used that rule in US cities, you would both stay alive, and miss out on some really cool bars.
I used to use rsync
to copy data from my storage array on one machine to an external and an off site backup. Since a lot of it was code, it always took forever to scan all the small files, and I had to script unlocking remote partitions.
With encrypted ZFS, I can just zfs snap
then zfs send
, and it does the same thing at the block level, raw, so way faster, less data transfer, and no need to send a key or passphrase unless I need to mount it at the destination (meaning a cloud provider could never know the data, for instance).
ZFS is also recursive, so if I have s/storage
and /storage/stuff
defined, I can snap and send either level, which makes it as versatile as rsync.
I sprinkled cayenne in my Chai once. Spicy Chai can be good. This one was not.
I modified the crap out of an Eclipse spider, all the way down to welding intercoolers amd exhaust, to grinding out maniffolds, and rebuilding transmission on my front porch. Super reliable, too (rare for that car), and was close to an AWD conversion (had the doner) before I sold it for a twin turbo 335i I got for a steal that is on it’s 4th water pump after 13 years :(
I remember this. I also remember using scp
instead. And ftp
, if I go back far enough. rsync
is still my friend though zfs
has mostly replaced it now.
Nextcloud and OnlyOffice. Collabora is basically a VNC session over LibreOffice. While OnlyOffice is web-native and has much better compatibility.
