I’m torn on this, I agree with your point and think it’s important to not do what the fascists want, provide an excuse to escalate violence further, but also they have been escalating all on their own and folks attending should be prepared for that escalation. Everyone has got to make their own decisions, I’ll be there with bells on but shit could get really dicey so I cant blame anyone that wants to keep their kids at home.

When you say they, do you mean Americans paying attention, Trump voters and supporters, or the assholes making these decisions?
The first group are painfully aware of how fucked we are, the second MIGHT when they lose their home/job or have a loved one hauled away to a concentration camp but even then they might never because pro American propaganda has burrowed itself so deeply into their minds they truly believe the exceptionalism horseshit, the third either knows and is fine with it because they are just trying to consolidate power or is one of the ignorant true believers like the second group.

Here’s the deal, I think most have figured out that it’s going to take something massive to have any impact, either a full on general strike or coordinated direct action. Things are going to have to be dire, and yes I agree they are already, but the average American has been at worst inconvenienced. The tragedies that just occurred related to extreme weather may get the ball moving for some and the worse things get the likelier action becomes. I hate that I’m saying this but I hope things get that bad soon or I fear it may be too late. But protests are not going to do jack shit, the admin wants an excuse to declare martial law

I was at one yesterday and while you’re 100% right, I’m hoping that what we’re doing right now is building a head of steam, the US has never really protested on this scale before and getting everyone out is gonna take time to organize. Next one is set for the 19th. If we get a bigger turn out then and keep it up that’s how we generate the momentum for daily protests and general strikes going. It’s not enough at all but I was encouraged by the turn out I saw versus other rallies this year
I lost all faith in the CIA being anything more than an engine to keep America’s international capitalist interests intact. If they were actually trying to keep the US safe and stable Trump wouldn’t be president because the all powerful CIA of lore would have ended him
