Also surprisingly effective.
Also surprisingly effective.
A lot of “AI systems” are literally just a dude in India. Outsourced human labour is cheaper than building and running a proper AI driven system, but companies want to say they’re “incorporating AI” because it makes shareholders dicks hard.
“Talk to a human”
Repeat these words over and over. Most automated phone systems are programmed to bail out when its clear the customer is just flat out unwilling to engage with their bullshit.
Look up “right to repair” laws. There are efforts all across the world to get them passed, and many of them have been successful. This is absolutely a thing that you can in fact make a difference on.
Absolutely 100% unironically: Not with that attitude.
That is so very not the problem here. Everyone has things they enjoy that other people think are frivolous.
This should be a part of all right to repair legislation.
Oh yeah. Let’s hand aviation safety to the technology that thinks deathcap mushrooms are delicious and healthy.
I bought a “lifetime premium” for something like $30 USD I think
Same
But use Airsonic instead, it’s a fork that’s free in both the beer and speech sense.
There’s also Navidrome, which is a unique backend, but works with existing Subsonic clients. Check out both, see which one you like better.
If someone has the resources to simulate a universe, they probably have the resources to stimulate an arbitrarily large number of universes. This also assumes that any civilisation within the stimulated universe reaches the level of technological advancement required to make a universe level simulation. We’re talking, probably, whole networks of Matrioska Brains, that sort of thing.
Being a terminal purist is wonderful for those of us who live our lives deep in the caverns of Linux, but in actual production use you very often find situations where less technical users have to interact with the systems that we build.
For my work, I need a way for low level tech support and technicians to go in and restart a container from time to time, and these people curl up in a ball and scream if you show them a command prompt. Having a UI removes a lot of friction.
To be fair, Dockge is very, very new. I imagine features like that will turn up soon enough.
Technically true, but if you actually try to interact with those compose files directly then shit gets really fucky.
Hi, Canadian here. The Handmaid’s Tale was seriously over optimistic about what kind of country we are.
I hate to say it but if Trump wins, it will not be the same as last time. Trump and the Republicans have both learned a lot from their last go around, and they’ve got the benefit of a captive supreme court at their back this time. Last time they had no clear plan for what to do if they won. This time around their plan is very clear and very scary.
There’s this thing where normally surprising court rulings result in a lot of breathless over reaction from the public, while serious legal commentators are going “Guys, no, it doesn’t actually work that way, it’s not nearly as bad as you think.”
The Trump immunity ruling is the only time I’ve ever seen those serious legal commentators saying “Holy shit this is so much worse than you think.” People are seriously underestimating just how bad this really is.
If you do want to host your own google docs, look into Onlyoffice, or LibreOffice with Collabora
They’re presumably going to be doing this live. If someone manages to hack into the component that feeds text in…
Probably not. Access to phone calls is heavily restricted on modem smart phones. It’s why call recording apps are almost impossible to make now, despite many jurisdictions being one party consent (meaning only one person involved in a conversation needs to know that it’s being recorded).
