I really enjoy there being a natural filter through this process. I’d rather people who lack the willpower or cognitive capacity to complete an install be kept within the confines of Windows.

A Prius with a Ukraine sticker slapped on the hatchback.
Aren’t we lucky to be living in the age of human history in which governments are good and honest? Not like those old, backwards governments in history books who would dress up their soldiers as the enemy’s and order them to do something heinous.
Nice try, glowboy
I would have omitted the last panel.
Much of it is just functionality by way of ffmpeg, which is also an excellent program.
So, what would you say are the two non immigration issues on the Republican side?
I can’t speak definitively for them, but I could just flip the words around from your 3 Democrats issues:
Abortion rights, gun control
*magic swisharoo noises
It sounds like you were on the end of the chain in a game of telephone.
When Fred Trump III asked his uncle Donald Trump for money to help with his disabled son’s medical care, he says the former U.S. president suggested letting the young man die instead.
I could see how politicized media could morph that into “disabled people should just die” for clicks, though.
Using workarounds to attempt to get foreign software running on an operating system for which is was never built is always going to be fraught with problems.
If the game isn’t distributed compiled for your platform, then you are a second class citizen and no amount of API wrappers, translation layers, VMs or whatever will ever address the core issue.
Running a game in Proton (Wine) is not playing on Linux. It is your linux environment contorting itself and doing miraculous back flips in the hope of convincingly coaxing the Windows binary game into thinking that it is running on an actual Windows host.
Soft solution: Purchase games that are properly developed and released targeting your platform natively.
Hard solution: Graduate from playing games and move on with your life. (btw mine improved a lot after putting gaming behind me for good. + I can now use whatever computer hardware and software I damn well please)
Fuck Putin, by the way.
Captain, we’re being scanned!
Fun side note: When I’d remoted into our medical client’s workstations, there were more than a handful of occasions where the recipient on the other end had only just finished frantically closing out Netflix tabs.
Things like this make me hope very much that I my physical health holds out for decades to come.
Why do conservatives believe gay, trans, black, brown, Liberals, and the disabled deserve to die?
It is helpful to at least be able to represent your ideological opponents accurately. (Although I understand it is tempting to deliberately misrepresent them)
You’re three points for republicans informs me that you spend nearly all of your time within an informational bubble.
I have to constantly remind myself that the average user today cannot tell the difference between a search engine and a web browser.
And we have the URL bar pulling double duty as a search engine entry form to thank for that.
I get where 0x0 was going with that, but I also don’t expect lemmings (ex-redditors) to understand it either.
stop using the internet outside of what is required to function in society.
I agree with the sentiment. But also consider the threshold for “what is required to function in society” is experiencing endlessly expanding feature creep. The great mass hysteria of 2020 dealt the heaviest blow.
I don’t really see the problem here. So people dumb enough to use Meta or Tiktok etc become anxious, depressed and suicidal. That is actually awesome. All of the right people are getting hit with consequences of their poor decisions.
I no longer view gatekeeping necessarily as a bad thing. In fact, it can be sometimes be necessary to preserve communities.
I’ve also learned over the years that the only people who succeed in migrating to linux are those who both considerably desire to do so while also having a level of technical competency somewhere north of average. Anyone else is just being strung along by a “helpful” linux evangelist in their family or friends group, and will ultimately drop the solution at the first sign of trouble and frustration.
