As a Canadian, I have the same question. Is this just the old "slam through an obviously unconstitutional law because it will take years and hundreds of thousands of dollars to get it undone and until then maybe we can keep pushing our clearly anti-American agenda? (note I’m using American to mean what they claim it to mean, like in the movies, not what it actually is, which is kinda… this.)
Answering honestly: so that shitty people can like shitty things without the consequences. They can broadcast their views without having to answer for them, and down the line it’s easier to manipulate likes so Elon can sell likes or remove likes from anything he pleases, which allows twitter to create “public opinion” that won’t be in line with actual public opinion.
Great content isn’t necessarily everyone’s prefered content. Having it all in one place helps people who want to see it see it and people who don’t don’t have to. Win win.
Same, that’s one of my favourite ways to eat it, basically if it’s a big enough whole muscle it gets ham-a-fied, the rest goes into grind for summer sausage and meatballs.

I think human memory and recollection is too inconsistent to apply that label fairly.
If the cops had been around the corner when it happened and then claimed they saw it then you are right, they should face equal consequences for lying.
But if they were near enough (and the video shows some of them? Than a combination of the sounds and movement and immediate aftermath can and does totally shift your perception of reality.
Quick story: I was at work and I heard someone say something angry behind me. I turned around and “Bob” suddenly shoved “Alex”. Alex shoved back and they started screaming. I got in between and broke it up, facing Bob and basically keeping him from continuing after Alex. The bosses showed up and Bob started going off screaming about how his was gonna kick Alex’s ass and let’s go outside and blah bla blah he shoved me!
I barked at him “You shoved Alex first you need to calm down!”
And he stopped dead and looked at me. “FUCK YOU YOU LIAR.” And a rant about how I was best friends with Alex (I wasn’t, but sure did like him more than Bob) and I would like to get him fired ect ect.
Now Bob was (probably is) an asshole. He ended up getting fired for berating a coworker and then coming to blows with a supervisor who told him to knock it off.
But after I dismissed his accusations and moved on with my day, I started to think about what happened.
I didn’t see anything before I turned around. But I did hear a yell, like a yelp… Like someone being hit…
So I was 100% convinced of what happened, until I gave it some deep thought much later. If Alex had have stepped up and said “yeah! That’s what happened!” I don’t think I would have ever second guessed it, I would have put my career and reputation on the line…
Anyways, they may be fully lying and colluding, but there is a non-zeeo chance they “remembered” it like the victim claims.
ACAB but I wouldn’t put too much weight in the other officers intentionally lying. The incident happened so fast I’d assume 3 of the 4 didnt even catch it from the right angle and are just going off of what Dumbo says happened.
Cancan Dan should go to prison for the same sentence as the crime he falsely accused the driver of.
Then the driver should have been charged with those offences. Also I have no idea how YOU know he was breaking any traffic laws from that video. The officer onsite indicates the lights are not to be trusted, and “speeding”, I’d love to see how you went about determining that from this video…
The cop played a stupid game and won a stupid prize. In a just world once he heals up he would go to jail for the same crime/time as he falsely accused the driver of. Oh well.
What type/brand of laser level? Most have magnetic brackets so if you have an outside corner in the room that has a metal drywall corner it will stick to that, or any peice of metal can be screwed to the wall and the level can be stuck to that. Your level may also come with a metal part of the bracket that you can screw to the wall and then stick the lazer to, and slide it up and down to get the right spot.
Why don’t they just ask the Hamas terrorists to go somewhere specific and then kill or capture them there, rather than asking the civilians to leave an area so only terrorists remain and then going in and doing the same?
My sister’s dog does “business deals” with me (offers a paw to shake) and it gets to the point where I have to tell him I don’t do deals on the weekend or I’m out of goods to trade. That little ferengi never truly believes me though he thinks I’m just trying to play hardball …
Netflix just greenlit a Mae Martin series that sounds like it’s about the same thing.
Toronto had Zanta, a guy who wore red boxers, black boots and a Santa hat and did pushups on top of mailboxes and flexing while shoutting at passersby. If you knew him it was a fun spectacle but for most people he was aggressive and basically a creep.
He was mentally ill for sure, and had a pretty long sad story.
Any Zanta experts please speak up if you’d like to add more context. Pretty sure someone wrote a book or comic about the guy.
Sounds like my man “Sneesus” at Dundas Square. “BbBEEEEELEEIVE IN THE LORD” everyday, same corner. Scaring the crap out of anyone who doesn’t know the intersection but otherwise never approaches or even gives a glance.
Regardless of if you feel UBI is necessary or pointless, this group of people were selected and offered it for a set period of time. Then the Ford government promised them they would not cancel it. Then they cancelled it. It should be treated the same as any other business or employment contract not fulfilled. These people made significant life changes under the presumption that they would have those years of stable income, and then they were tossed out the door.
If you are one of the people who thought it was a waste of money from the start, it’s an even bigger waste once the court grants them the rest of their cash and we get no data on how UBI could/couldn’t work.
That is a beautiful, wonderful movie, but I haven’t been in a positive enough mental state to watch it for almost 8 years.
No I’m not depressed, I’m very lucky and usually quite content if not very happy, it’s just so dark and sad you really have to be waaaaay over to the happy side of the spectrum of you don’t want to come out a hairs distance from suicidal.
I was maybe 6 when I saw the same 60 minutes show. Terrified me. Mom got mad at dad for not noticing I was watching with horrified eyes beside the side of the couch.
