Have you seen fast food prices recently? $25 is a meal deal with one additional burger/taco because the meal is too small to feed anyone older than a toddler.
Not saying that fast food is the cheapest option anymore, but it is a common option.

I blame google for the demise of well-organized folders. Their approach to email was “chuck it all in one big folder named Archive, and you can search for it using keywords that you will definitely remember when you need to find it again!”
It’s a useful tool, but paved the way for the current state of affairs where people get overwhelmed by their email because they have 150,000 unread emails in their inbox and as a result, don’t read an email until you tell them the entire contents of their email via the inferior messaging platform known as texting.
I only have one smaller chain grocery store in my area, and it’s half snake oil targeted to old hippies. It’s also three to four times as expensive because old hippies apparently have money?

Where I am, one would need to be making $29.70/hr (working 40 hours a week) to afford to only be paying 30% of their income on housing, and there aren’t many actual slums left. State minimum wage is $14/hr. Federal is $7.25/hr. The cheapest bottle of alcohol and a thin rag costs $12.95, though you can save a quarter if you rip your shirt into strips instead of using rags.
In the alternate universe where that could happen, we wouldn’t have gotten anywhere close to the Israel situation, or a string of conservative Democrats in office.
Our best hope is to pull a multiverse switcheroo and swap our Biden (and our Harris) with doppelgangers from the universe where the Democrats are the party of the left.

I don’t want anything smart in my car. I want a(n electric) engine that starts with a goddamned physical key that turns in a physical ignition. I want a volume knob that turns with a 1:1 ratio to the volume, ditto for climate control fan speed and temperature. The only thing I want my phone to do in conjunction with my cLilar is display the GPS.
I don’t think anyone on the UN is ready to declare war on the United States, no matter how much we deserve it.
That would require having policies, and not just a campaign strategy of “We’re not as bad as the Other Guy!”
I’m not Muslim, but if my options were to vote for someone who wants to kill my family vs someone who won’t stop selling weapons to those who are actively killing my family, I can understand why they wouldn’t be super excited at those choices.
I’ve got $0.85 in savings, because I put my rent and car payment money in my savings account each month until I need to pay those bills. I did at one point have $1000 saved up as a rainy day fun, but then it rained for a whole year (financially speaking). Now I don’t even have credit cards to fall back on, as those have been maxed out and gone to collections. I’m looking for a job in an industry I left because it was driving me to alcoholism (software), but that job market sucks a little more than the service industry, so I’m not optimistic.
Oh yeah and I’d be homeless if I didn’t have family who were willing and able to loan me rent money.

The Jan 6th temper tantrum was instigated as a response to the BLM and other Covid-era protests. The owner class was getting nervous about the working class protesting about things that matter, so they riled up some of their disposable morons to storm the Capital as a way to discredit direct action. And we’re already seeing the effects; whether it’s a labor strike or a student sit-in, we’re told by centrists to “protest peacefully” and not inconvenience anyone, aka don’t protest.
They should have thought of that before hiring Will Ferrell to be a clown in a commercial for them.
I love the thought, but the reality is there are enough actually essential services (though much fewer than the owner class defines as essential) that we wouldn’t wipe out viruses that easily. Not to mention the impossibility of getting other countries to do anything similar.
