I worked at the server company that previously hosted discord servers (no longer exists) and let me tell you right now that all your conversations were accessible on the server to anyone in the company and completely and totally insecure. Overall security was pretty meh and it wouldn’t be very difficult for anyone who really wanted the information to gain access to anything on your server.

It is not a valid place to store or discuss anything that requires operational security. It is also not a place where customer data should be stored or discussed, in fact you’re also probably breaking gdpr by accident if you ever do so.

There was later a suicide at the Shenzhen foxconn plant but I think it was only 1 or 2 there that were only notable because of the 10+ in a single week that occurred at the Taiwan plant, followed by dozens of others spread out. I just want to say it’s really funny that libs refer to Taiwan as China when it suits them. The specific Foxconn factory that was the center of this mess was in Taiwan and universities produced an 84 page report that investigated the matter when it blew up, one of the major reasons cited for the suicides in the report was discrimination against mainlanders occurring within the “labour camp” (their words) that was being operated there where taiwanese were privileged over mainlanders used for cheaper labour that they could exploit harder thanks to taiwan’s administration being dogshit on regulations. I don’t think this is all just alienating power users. I think a major aspect of this is disturbing routines that people previously had. When people have a daily routine where they do the same thing every single day you shouldn’t disturb that because then they replace that part of their routine with something else, that’s what users did with reddit imo when their preferred app no longer worked. They just used something else, probably Tiktok.

What is happening over there is one of the biggest disasters I’ve ever seen online and the fact that it’s going unreported on while Twitter and Musk continue to get all the attention is absolutely ridiculous. Reddit is collapsing and unless they do something enormous it is currently in a death spiral.

Go to literally any subreddit, scroll to the comments per day graph and check out the drop on July 11th. The official date of the change was July 1st but they delayed it or something with a grace period. That drop on July 11th is the api drop.

When reddit shut down their api every single subreddit on the site went down in comment activity by 75% or more. Comment activity has only been decreasing in the month since then. Post activity has been in decline as well.

Whether this means people stopped using the site entirely or not is up for debate. But in terms of damage to the community on the site it is the single biggest social media failure I have seen on the web since Digg. Even Musk hasn’t damaged Twitter as much as the api change has damaged reddit.

I think it’s worth keeping in mind that for some of this you’ll need to use more than one platform for a while. Sports content was one of the last things that really popularised on reddit and that’s because it’s less popular among early adopters, who tend to be more into tech than physical activities.

Yeah it runs rock solid. I get the impression FS must have good employee retention and have very good methods for building employee skills, so over time they’ve only improved. On top of hiring and acquiring some of the best staff that must have existed in other Japanese studios. No idea how they actually treat the employees, could be like shit because it’s Japanese work culture, but something about them is producing content that is consistently a cut above everything. They’re getting up there like Rockstar in terms of quality but based in Japan instead of the UK.

I get 120fps in Elden Ring at medium, 2070, 64gb ram, i9-12900k.

Just got done with Armored Core, rock solid 144fps at medium all the way through, never a blip.

This runs at 30fps on lowest settings. It runs like absolute crap. It’s incredibly jarring to go from games that are gorgeous and well made with high performance to this thing running like something 20 years ago. Absolutely zero optimisation.

It will get a seriously negative response from the average pc user when user reviews start hitting due to this performance.

I would think that it’s cheap availability on GamePass and likelihood of frequent updates would make for a muted response to this one.

It runs like absolute crap. I have a 2070 with i9-12900k and 64gb ram and get 30fps on the LOWEST settings. That’s it.

I run Elden Ring at 120fps and just got done with Armored Core that ran at 144fps rock solid medium settings all the way through without a single blip.

The performance is unbelievably atrocious.
