I think some way to temporarily exclude/include which communities’ feed show up would be ideal.
And maybe some way to tag or group up communities into collections.

thank you for this
Proton? Why are you using Proton? Does qBittorrent only have a Windows version? In that case don’t use qBittorrent, or if it has a Linux version (I assume you’re on Linux since you’re using Proton) get that one.
If you’re on Linux, at least Arch Linux like me (but I assume most OSes will have it), you can use the transmission-qt
package.
There’s also a gtk version.
Anyway I’ve never used a VPN for torrents and never had a problem, but it probably depends on where you live and your ISP. Also I should note that I don’t have a static IP address, which means every time I start my PC I’m getting a new IP, which probably doesn’t hurt.
Though obviously the ISP always knows what my IP address is, so if they do have a problem with it then I would probably need to use a VPN.
After you have a torrent client, like qBittorrent, you should be able to click on "magnet links"
on torrent sites, and then the web browser will automatically ask if you want to open the magnet link with qBittorrent.
For me the same thing happens, except I’m using one called Transmission
.
Anyway, after that you might have to choose to which directory/folder it gets downloaded if it’s your first time.
Then it will start downloading. Of course how fast it’s downloading depends on the number of Seeder
s and Leecher
s.
Seeders are people with the files who are allowing others to download it from them, if there’s no seeders then you won’t be downloading anything.
Interesting. I’m pretty sure it was on AUR when I installed quite a while back, but looks like it’s in Extra now yeah.
It does make sense though since youtube-dl hasn’t been working for about a year.
I should’ve checked before commenting
like I said only the original youtube-dl package is in extra
but it stopped working a while back.
since then I’ve been using the youtube-dl fork
yt-dlp that OP mentioned, but it’s in aur
atm since it hasn’t gotten as recognized as it’s a fork (I assume)
Basically yt-dlp is a fork of youtube-dl, and unlike youtube-dl it’s in aur instead of extra.
At least last I checked all youtube-dl forks are in aur, but you have to use yt-dlp (or maybe one of the other forks) since youtube-dl doesn’t work anymore.
Edit: It seems yt-dlp was at some point moved from AUR to Extra. I was half expecting it to happen eventually since youtube-dl stopped working about a year ago, but I never noticed it happening.
Either way, as it’s a package on extra instead of AUR there’s a lot less of a security concern for anyone worried about that.
Original comment:
I have yt-dlp from the AUR (Arch User Repository). youtube-dl package also exists, and it’s on extra, but it stopped working about half a year ago
yeah this is really concerning
