Hello everyone. My little brother is going to be going to pre-k before too long and I want to make sure he is prepared. We have the whole summer coming up so I was wondering if anyone knew about anything good to do before he starts pre-k.

He loves to color and draw and he loves being read stories. He hasn’t really spent much time around other kids alot tho. How do I make sure he’s ready for a classroom? Thanks.

Potty training, make sure he can pull his pants up and down by himself, as well as any coat / jacket. Practice using polite words. Play games that require taking turns. Practice putting on and taking off shoes by himself. Have him pick a calm down method (blowing out birthday candles, etc) and know when to use it.

How young? Potty training is a great thing to get down, and is required by many places.

Spend some time at splash pads and other playground-like places over the summer, that should get some good kid to kid time. (And assuming you have a grown up going as well, you have your own play time)

Hes 4 and we have potty training down pretty good already.

And he is very shy and does not say much to anyone other than me and even then he is still quiet alot of the time. Do I need to encorage him to socialize more?
