Summary
Donald Trump issued an executive order stripping collective bargaining rights from about 700,000 federal workers, citing a “national security” exemption in the 1978 Civil Service Reform Act.
The order targets unions at major departments, including Defense, Energy, and Veterans Affairs.
The American Federation of Government Employees and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees condemned the move as illegal and vowed legal action.
Union leaders accused the administration of undermining workers’ rights to benefit billionaire interests and called the decree the largest union-busting effort in U.S. history.
Biden seems pretty good now, right?
No, you don’t get it, this is his fault (and Harris’s). Genocide Joe, right? We sure taught the Dems a powerful lesson.
I keep saying it over and over. She laughed… We can’t have that! Imagine… A laughing woman. Insanity
Yeah, what’s next? Women working a job? Hah
Or pants? Fucking pants in MY HOUSE?
What about Benghazi Hillary and her emails? She ruined it because she’s a woman too emtional-- says the conservatives
CLASSIC LINKERBAAN
Another executive order. What does this guy think he is, king?
He does and thus far nobody with the power to say otherwise has.
Yes! Because, practically speaking, he is one.
That reminds me of a tweet I just saw from the White House celebrating the fact that he’s signed more executive orders than any president in history at this point by far. Which is… fine I guess but just seems like a really really strange thing to be super proud of to me.
… Is this the first time you’ve heard of Donald Trump!!!
That’s what i was thinking when people first started supporting his run for the presidency in 2016. I just assumed it was common knowledge that he was a blatant con/grifter/sleazeball. I guess i didn’t realize those would be taken as positive traits by a bunch of self-proclaimed “Christians” lol
It’s worse than that.
All the coastal elites thought he was garbage.
Which was incontrovertible proof he was the messiah reborn.
His base called him God emperor 4 or 5 years ago. Wouldn’t be surprised if an egomaniac like him took it to heart.
L’état c’est moi
Vive le roi!
Who says you can’t tell if its sarcasm if its text?
There’s a thing unions do when you try to fuck with them that he isn’t going to like.
Imagine 700k government employees just upping and fucking off because of how much of a giant dumbass you are. He’ll still not realise the smell in the room is him, though.
That’s what he wants them to do…
And once they do it, he’ll very quickly learn where real power comes from.
Nah. He’ll just privatize their work sectors to the highest bidders.
These threats will not work. Americans will not be intimidated or silenced.
Are you sure? Seems like Trump is able to do anything he wants.
Really going full billionaire class uh
Is that how this works? I declare a 3 day workweek!
Its what they voted for.
Many unions are quite conservative, and also presidents of unions often support the GOP. I believe the USPS president loves to suck off trump
DeJoy. He is quitting or maybe already has by now. He was terrible. Should have been fired by Biden day one.
I mean, so, he wants a general strike?
I assume then Putin wants a general strike.
No, he wants to pull a Reagan part 2 and fire any government worker who goes on strike. Trump has an army of loyalists willing to do whatever he says, who would be more than happy to scab any strike to inefficacy. Even if they’re terrible at the job, all that matters is that they’re loyal.
They don’t want the scabs either. A dysfunctional government is the goal. Then they will say, see it doesn’t work. And use that as an excuse to scrap more of our government.
It really puts the federal workers in a tight spot. They are getting shit poured on them from above, and they are like one of the last lines of defense from Trump. Trump et al wants them to leave, if not willingly then on the first occasion he can fire with cause.
That really sucks. They have no moves but to hold the line.
True, another valid point.
Sure something to consider, but they can’t just up and replace 3 million people with 3 million rando Trumpers that aren’t likely to quit their jobs and move to another state for that anyway.
I think a full federal workforce strike would be pretty effective.
They probably can, even if it means spending billions more in the end to hire out private contractors to do the work they can’t find enough sycophants for. The whole point is grift.
I mean, DOGE is already an example. They’re just hiring conservative kids fresh out of college for peanuts because they believe blindly serving the Trump admin is the most alpha resume builder one could ask for. The government is basically being run like one big racist fraternity.
And if they can’t find enough people to do the actual work, they just do things like give NASA contracts to SpaceX so Elon and his billionaire bros can get richer off the taxpayer dollar.
…and what’s this blank spot on your resume?
- Well since you asked I’m legally required to tell you I helped topple a mostly functional democratic republic., but I’d prefer not to talk about it.
Those people working at doge are practically ineligible for other jobs besides working for the gop only, no use in hiring a Nazi collaborator
Putin gives approval for trump to order nuclear strike on Americans
Those calling for a strike, or think a strike from federal workers would help seem to be missing some info. Federal workers sign a contract giving up their right to strike. All federal workers who would strike are forfeiting their jobs and source of income. Is that fact being factored in when yall are calling for a strike to set things in motion to enact change? As always, free Palestine.
Honestly, the most effective thing would be a general strike from everyone except the federal workers. Just grind everything to a halt until the oligarchs get Trump back in line.
@MicroWave i hope you’re watching this Australia. Elections matter!
#auspolHe can EO all he wants, the judges will decide if it’s legal.
That only matters if there’s someone around to enforce it. And often times, by the time proceedings are finished, the damage has already been done.
