Like many people I’m new to Lemmy. Enjoying it so far.
Has anyone else noticed an increase in email phishing spam after signing up? Or is it merely a coincidence?
I stupidly used my main email and have gone from zero phishing and a few spam. In the 48 hours after signing up I’m getting 6-8 phishing emails a day…again could be a coincidence but would love to hear if any of the new sign ups have had a similar experience
i signed up using an email relay service. If doesn’t sound familiar, check this https://relay.firefox.com
it is like an alias, the relay receives the email and forwards a copy to your mailbox of choice. If it starts getting spam emails, i’ll just disable it and messages will stop getting delivered to my main mailbox.
