Not everyone wants to carry a community on their backs, just for the sake of it. Posting your own OC as a non-content creator tends to get your inbox flooded with DMs. If that’s not what you’re looking for then it’s actually a huge hassle.
All I’m saying is there isn’t a ton of content on here - it’s not as if anyone else that is not selling is posting much. The NSFW communities are pretty slow. Half ( or much more) of the NSFW content here on lemmy are just bots reposting stuff from Reddit. I’m not going to complain about someone actually posting content.

Maybe you won’t, but the Lemmy community has shown time and time again over the past year that it will take every opportunity to say shitty things about someone who posts content that doesn’t rival OF and model content quality and body standards.
I have nothing against sex work, but the reality is that it actively attempts to muscle out exhibitionism enthusiasts and amateur content and it is difficult for them to exist in the same space. In the end, the person who is financially and incentivized is always going to win out over the ones doing it for fun because it stops being fun pretty quickly.
